有機混種:CITY BORDERS 2.0

 

從台北的淡水河到印度恆河,德國手風琴、台灣琵琶、伊朗鼓樂、印度小提琴的全新對話,以「河流」作為創作概念,呈現大時代下族群與歷史的流動,跨文化的音樂對話,牽動出「遷徙」的議題。

源自電影原聲音樂的有機混種計劃
 

手風琴、琵琶、印度小提琴、伊朗鼓樂的音樂混種計劃。本計劃源自2012年印度華人遷徙紀錄片《邊界移動兩百年》配樂,琵琶創作人玉鳳以「河流」為創作概念寫歌,譜出呈現大時代下族群與歷史的流動遷徙。當玉鳳的曲子跨越海洋,到了德國配樂家Wolfgang Obrecht手中,逐漸有了更多溫度與色彩,兩人在慕尼黑與台北透過信件一來一回,創作在彼此的對話中逐漸成熟,完整,〈City Borders〉於焉成形。隨著紀錄片放映,一路到上海、廣州、深圳、加爾各答、台北演出。在路上,玉鳳與Wolfgang兩位充滿默契的音樂夥伴,擦出更多驚奇絕妙的火花,於是相約2015年在德國繼續醖釀全新創作計劃。

 

本次流浪之歌音樂節,將呈現新鮮出爐,全新版本的〈有機混種:City Borders 2.0〉,除了Wolfgang與玉鳳的全新創作,更加入新的跨國編製:新生代的挪威印度裔小提琴手Harpreet Bansal、伊朗鼓樂Reza Samani重新編曲、挪威古典小提琴樂人Tove Margrethe Erikstad,以及才華洋溢的藍調吉他手David Chen跨刀相助,眾多才華洋溢的跨文化樂人,穿越音樂與文化的多重邊界,從音樂的流動遷徙中,展開更豐富、趣味盎然的有機音樂場景。

City Borders 2.0: City Borders Ensemble

 

The City Borders Ensemble was born out of a collaboration between German composer and accordionist Wolfgang Obrecht and Taiwanese pipa soloist Chung Yufeng. The pair wrote and recorded songs for the soundtrack to the documentary film "From Border to Border" (2014) a film about the Chinese diaspora living in Kolkata, India. They also performed a number of concerts in India and Taiwan to celebrate the film's release. At the 2015 Migration Music Festival, the project is reuniting Wolfgang and Yufeng for a new performance that brings together additional musicians who come from different "borders:" Violinist Harpreet Bansal and cellist Tove Margrethe Erikstad of Norway; Iranian percussionist Reza Samani; and Taiwanese-American guitarist/singer David Chen.     

鍾玉鳳 Chung Yufeng|台灣

台灣琵琶音樂家、作曲家,能編能寫,悠游於傳統與現代之間,多次踏上國際舞台展開跨界計劃,以豐富的創作與優秀的演繹能力受到注目。2008年《音樂越界》德國駐村計劃,與十位不同國家的樂人共同創作、演出與錄音,在德國各大城市與音樂節巡演。2009年參與歐洲最盛大的民謠音樂節《TFF, Rudolstadt》,成為當年唯一的亞洲代表女性樂人。隨後多地巡演與創作,從德國、埃及、西爪哇到印度,文化邊界上生氣蓬勃的音樂場景,是她豐沛靈感的泉源。玉鳳的個人創作,跨越爵士、藍調、搖滾、民謠⋯⋯等樂類,難以輕易歸類,只能現場親耳見識,她的音樂歷程不只是跨界挑戰與經驗的積累,也是多元音樂文化的激盪、思考,再轉化,從傳統的滋養與當代的撞擊中,找尋屬於這個時代新的音樂語彙。

 

Chung Yufeng, who hails from Taipei, Taiwan, originally trained in classical Chinese music but composes and performs original music on her main instrument, the pipa. Yufeng has worked with a wide spectrum of artists from different genres and styles, from acclaimed Taiwanese folk singer Lin Shengxiang to Hungarian violinist Zoltán Lantos. She is currently working on a solo project that includes musical collaborations with musicians from Germany, Indonesia, India, Hungary and Sweden.

 

德國手風琴鬼才 Wolfgang Obrecht|德國
奔放不羈的手風琴鬼才、配樂工作者、野戰錄音師,〈City Border〉混種計劃的靈魂人物。平時在德國慕尼黑的個人錄音室工作,與歐洲許多樂團巡迴全球。他擅長收集在地聲響,與音樂本質自然融合,創造具生命力的魔幻音景。身為錄音師,Wolfgang有雙涉獵廣闊的耳朵,從客家山歌、印度古典樂、到中東音樂文化,這些來自多元音樂領域的養分,賦予他的手風琴層次豐富而變幻莫測的聲響,Wolfgang手風琴創作跨越多種傳統,多個音樂邊界,打破手風琴浪漫甜美的刻板印象,Wolfgang的樂聲能帶你走得更遠——他將聲音拆解、重組,讓想像力主導對話,在與各國好手交鋒之間,拓展更自由、更具革命性的聲響空間。(音樂節獨奏演出,請點擊 MORE 

 

Wolfgang Obrecht, who hails from Munich, Germany, is a composer and a sound engineer specializing in acoustic music with a particular interest in world and contemporary music and free improvisation. Trained in classical piano, Wolfgang also grew up playing the church organ and now plays the accordion as his principal instrument. He is a founding member of Piazza Grande, for which he composes and performs traditional/folk music from southern Italy. 

 

As a sound engineer, Wolfgang trained at HdK (now UdK) in Berlin and works mainly in live sound recording, having toured with various Iranian musicians throughout Europe as a live sound engineer. He also has numerous film and television projects on his resume, including on-going production work for German state TV channel ZDF. 

 

Wolfgang produces and mixes various projects at his own studio in Munich, Tonstudio RichArt, and founded the label "pilgrims of sound" in 2014, which issued the CD series "Highlights of Improvisation." His latest project, Ensemble Borderless, features all original compositions, which will be performed the Migration Music Festival 2015.

 

跨界小提琴手 Harpreet Bansal|印度/挪威

對Harpreet而言,傳統音樂是養份,不是目的──她手上的小提琴,是劇場空間中流竄噪動不安的古老靈魂,從跨界的實驗對話中,碰撞出新的靈魂和語彙。1980年挪威出生,Harpreet自小受音樂家父親的印度古典音樂,以及西方古典樂兩種截然不同的音樂文化啟蒙蒙與訓練。自挪威音樂學院畢業後,拜當代西塔琴大師Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan Poonchwalas以及小提琴大師Dr. L. Subramaniam為師,此後自組同名樂團展開音樂巡迴。她是新生代中最受矚目的印度小提琴手,不但靈活悠遊於印度古典音樂,更勇於跨界嘗試不同領域,開拓跨媒界的藝術型態,許多民謠、爵士、舞者、電子音樂知名好手爭相合作的跨媒界獨立藝術家。(音樂節獨奏演出,請點擊 MORE ►)

 

Harpreet Bansal studied Indian classical music during early childhood with her father, Harbhajan S. Bansal. She also trained in Western classical music and entered the Norwegian Academy of Music (NAM) in 1999. After graduating in 2003, Harpreet became a student of the prominent sitar player Ustad Ashraf Sharif Khan Poonchwalas and took numerous lessons with Dr. L. Subramaniam, today's premier Indian violinist. In 2011, she finished her Master's Degree in Performance and Research at NAM.

In 2008, Harpreet formed the Bansal Trio, which has since toured extensively for Concerts Norway under the name Raga Bansal. In 2013, the quintet Bansal band was formed from the trio. The Bansal Trio will be releasing its first CD, “Chandra,” on Jazzland Recordings in September 2015.

 

鼓樂詩人 Reza Samani |伊朗

生於伊朗鼓樂世家,十二歳開始演奏生涯,目前定居德國,為歐洲知名的Tombak與Daf指導老師。Reza自年輕時便參與多項國際音樂計劃,並身兼多個跨文化樂團的鼓手和獨奏樂人,包括ZARBANG、Ensemble Samani、Rumi Ensemble、Tom-Ta-Ka Ensemble等,活躍於各大國際音樂節與舞台。他曾受邀至倫敦敲擊音樂節、慕尼黑伊朗音樂節、馬德里夏祭、魯爾表演藝術三年展、絲綢之路藝術節、杜拜的阿拉伯之聲等節目演出。除了〈City Border 2.0 有機混種計劃〉和獨奏演出,Reza也會在音樂節期間獨奏,以及帶領迷宮樂器工作坊,帶領觀眾近距離一探中東框鼓(Daf)打擊器樂的美妙聲響,機會難得。(音樂節獨奏演出,請點擊 MORE ►)

 


Reza Samani learned to play Tombak and Daf from his brother, Behnam Samani at the age of ten. By the age of  twelve, he had learned to play a wide array of woodwind instruments including the Sorna, Karna and Neyanban from renowned Iranian masters Khodadad Gholami, Ruzali and Mahmud Sharifi. He has performed with renowned musicians such as Rahmatollah Badii, Hossein Alizadeh, and Konstantin Wecker on various international music projects. 

 

As a soloist and ensemble player in the music groups ZARBANG, Ensemble Samani, Rumi Ensemble and Tom-Ta-Ka Ensemble, Reza has toured extensively in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa. He has participated in the Percussion Festival in London, Iranian Music Festival in Munich, Villas de Verano in Madrid, the Ruhr Triennale and the Silk Road Festival in Hong Kong. Based in Cologne, Germany, Reza Samani teaches Tombak and Daf throughout Europe and is a sought-after teacher for workshops and festivals.
 

David Chen|美國/台灣
David Chen,出生於美國俄亥俄州華人家庭,自幼受到美國鄉根音樂的啟蒙,著迷於藍調與鄉村歌謠。六年前移居台北,和其他移民到台北的各方樂手,組成演奏美國藍調傳統音樂的「泥灘地浪人」,曲風流動著豐富的文化與生命經驗。David Chen為本次配樂重新寫作新曲City of Night,描述1930年代印度河畔遷徙者的悲歡離散,也參與多首演奏曲。
 

Singer-songwriter/guitarist David Chen is an American who came to Taiwan in 1997 for a short visit to learn about his ancestral roots but wound up settling in Taipei, which he still calls home. In addition to Fade to Blue, a duo project with pipa soloist Chung Yufeng, he also currently serves as a multi-instrumentalist for award-winning Hakka folk singer Lo Sirong and leads the popular blues/swing/jug band outfit the Muddy Basin Ramblers.

 

 

古典創新小提琴手 Tove Margrethe Erikstad|挪威

1983年出生,挪威音樂學院畢業的小提琴好手,目前以奧斯陸為創作基地,活躍於挪威當代各大交響樂壇。從室內交響樂到劇場音樂,她是挪威廣播交響樂團、挪威歌劇交響樂團,以及成軍超過250年的老字號Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra的成員,同時也以個人樂手身分展開許多計劃。她是Rumi Ensemble的核心團員,Rumi Ensemble以伊斯蘭蘇菲詩人魯米為靈感,以中東鼓樂結合當代聲響的跨界樂隊,包括Harpreet Bansal、Reza Samani都是同一樂團成員,這群默契十足的夥伴,試圖在古典樂的深厚傳統中找尋突破與創新。

 

Tove Margrethe Erikstad is a Norwegian cellist based in Oslo. She studied under Prof. Truls Mørk, and graduated from the Norwegian Music Academy in 2009. Tove collaborates with several contemporary ensembles and well­-known orchestras, such as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Norwegian Opera Orchestra. She also participates in various chamber orchestras and related projects, theater and musical productions and currently serves as a member of Rumi Ensemble.
