​

從母親寄來的一封信，導演獲悉了其親戚的過往及其故鄉婆羅洲發生過的一場革命。本影片為「砂拉越共產黨」紀錄片，揭示了被遺忘的北婆羅洲獨立運動史——前遊擊隊員在鏡頭前，娓娓道來他們如何獻身於革命，為何至死不渝地信仰共產主義。當鬥爭從最高潮到突如其來的崩解，當生活日趨平淡，他們的青春卻經由未曾曝光的毛片，意外的展示于世人面前：軍中生活的點點滴滴，森林裡集體生存的意志，所有發光的回憶… 結合歷史舞臺劇的鋪陳，也藉此探討了赤道下華人的生存語境。

 

Inspired by a letter from his mother about his relatives, director Nova Goh explores the lives of ethnic Chinese in his home of Borneo, many of whom were guerrilla fighters in the Malaysian independence movement. The film reveals a forgotten history while shedding new light on Chinese identity just below the equator.

吳康豪 Nova Goh

 

生於婆羅洲，成長於這片充滿熱帶風光，人稱「犀鳥之鄉」的土地。1999年遠赴台灣國立藝術大學攻讀視覺傳達。在台留學期間，因深受當時當地活躍的獨立電影場景影響，而開始拍攝短片。2008年回到故鄉婆羅洲，開始執導第一部記錄長片《赤道雨》。

Born and bred in Borneo, Nova Goh studied visual communication at the National Taiwan University of the Arts. Influenced by the local indie scene, Goh made his first short films in Taiwan before returning home in 2008, where he shot "Red Rain on the Equator," which his first full length work.
