鄧南光鏡頭下19歲的少女阿林姐，如今已90歲，鏡頭隨著她蹣跚的腳步，挪移至她回憶中的美好歲月，觀看鄧南光（1907-1971）的拍攝足跡，也走過日治時期台灣的風土民情、城市與農村的人物地景。鄧南光，台灣紀實攝影的先驅，新竹北埔客家人，四、五零年代起活躍於台、日兩地攝影創作圈，累積質量之豐富，深刻影響日後台灣攝影運動的發展 。本片從口述回憶到舊地重遊，理解鄧南光的攝影作品今昔對照的歷史意義。

A documentary tribute to Deng Nan-Guang, one of the most important photographers in Taiwan during the 1930s. Director Tsao Wen-Chieh visits Deng's hometown, the Hakka village of Beipu in Hsinchu County, and imagines the photographer's interactions with his subjects: local people, rural scenery and folk rituals.
